Since founding Startup Corps in 2009, the most common feedback that we’ve received from student participants is “Why can’t the rest of school be like Startup Corps?”
It is in this spirit that we are currently developing a school that embodies the principles, values and goals of Startup Corps.
The Startup Corps school is designed and organized completely around the businesses and non-profits that students start, which in turn address real problems in their lives and their communities.
- We believe that entrepreneurial skills, mindset and experience empower students to influence an unpredictable future and thrive in all facets of their lives.
- We believe that problem-based education provides a special kind of context, which results in an intrinsic desire to learn and create relevant and applicable skills and knowledge.
- We believe that optimal learning occurs when amazing teachers and amazing practitioners teach side by side.
The entrepreneurial leaders of tomorrow not only need to possess the skills and mindset of successful entrepreneurs, but, in an uncertain, hyper-competitive world, they also need to be experts in handling rapid change and uncertainty. They need a strong bias for taking action, capturing feedback from those actions, and iterating accordingly (see: What Makes Entrepreneurs Entrepreneurial).
The Startup Corps school will be centered on the development of these entrepreneurial leaders.
