What problem does your startup solve?
Phresh Philadelphia is an organization that focuses on making Philadelphia a better place to live. By teaming up with local programs, volunteers, and city officials, Phresh Philadelphia will build a network of communities that can bring improvement plans into action.
Why is this problem important to you?
I’ve always been one to give to others, and I recently found myself moving towards social entrepreneurship. If young people have access to endless opportunities and possibilities, they will plan their future proactively.
How does your organization solve this problem?
Phresh Philadelphia offers the following:
• Gardening and neighborhood cleanup
• Community beautification and art events
• Real estate education
• Recreational development
• Access to volunteering opportunities
What is the long-term goal of your organization?
One of our long-term goals is to create charter schools and recreational centers
in Philadelphia. These will provide social, entrepreneurial, and cultural education
to the city youth, allowing them to have three essential skills in life. Children
engaged in positive learning and leadership environments will be able to develop a better tomorrow.
What’s the most valuable lesson you’ve learned in Startup Corps?
Startup Corps has taught me to never wait for anything or anyone when it comes to living
my dreams. They have shown how one can have a successful business life while still
being a teenager, and that’s all I needed to move my goals to action. With this, I have
taken full responsibility of my life goals and decided not to wait to start them.
